7th Annual NPSF Lucian Leape Institute Forum & Gala

Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Boston Marriott Copley Place | Boston, MA

Keynote Address: “Disrupted: Hope, Hype, and Harm at the Dawn of Medicine’s Digital Age”

Robert M. Wachter, MD

Professor and Associate Chair
Department of Medicine
University of California, San Francisco

Bob Wachter, MD, is professor and associate chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where he directs the 60-physician Division of Hospital Medicine. He is currently visiting professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, completing a book about how computers are changing the practice of medicine, to be published in 2015.

Author of 250 articles and 6 books, he coined the term “hospitalist” in 1996 and is generally considered the father of the hospitalist field, the fastest growing specialty in the history of modern medicine. He is past president of the Society of Hospital Medicine (1999-2000) and past chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine (2012-13). In 2004, he received the John M. Eisenberg Award, the nation’s top honor in patient safety. For the past seven years, Modern Healthcare  has named him one of the 50 most influential physician-executives in the US, the only academic physician to receive this recognition.

In a unique and collegial setting designed to encourage sharing of perspectives, the LLI Forum & Gala provides a remarkable opportunity for you to meet and connect with national patient safety thought leaders and peers from across health care and to signal your support for the Institute’s mission.

The afternoon educational forum is an interactive discussion led by the Lucian Leape Institute members, who offer insights into their work and seek attendee reaction and perspectives.

The evening gala consists of a networking reception and dinner, with a keynote address by Dr. Wachter.
