Magazine’s Seventh Biennial List Recognizes Women Leaders in Health Care

Boston, MA, March 8, 2017—Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, president and chief executive officer of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) has been named by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare. This biennial list of women leaders compiled by the magazine recognizes top female leaders in all sectors of the health care industry.

For the last four years, Dr. Gandhi has been the president and CEO of NPSF, an independent, not-for-profit organization and central voice for patient safety since 1997. She is board certified in internal medicine, and also holds an appointment as associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

“It is an honor to be among the 25 highly-respected women in health care who have been recognized,” said Dr. Gandhi. “These women, and so many others, have the power to change and improve health care across the country. I will continue to work in collaboration with others toward the common goal of improving the safety of health care for all.”

Dr. Gandhi was one of 150 women nominated for the list through an open call for nominations last October through December. A review board composed of senior editors of Modern Healthcare selected the finalists by judging the candidates on a broad range of criteria, including their willingness to share their expertise with others in the field, to serve as role models or mentors to others, and their ability and power to effect change.

This is the second time Dr. Gandhi has been named to the list. In 2016, Dr. Gandhi was also included in Modern Healthcare’s lists of 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders.
