NPSF Welcomes Christiana Care Health System

Delaware-Based Health System Is Newest Member of NPSF Stand Up for Patient Safety Program

Boston, MA, February 6, 2014—The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) is proud to welcome Christiana Care Health System as the newest member of the NPSF Stand Up for Patient Safety Program.

“Stand Up for Patient Safety member organizations are providing the leadership necessary to create measurable improvements in the safety and care of patients across the country,” said Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, president of NPSF. “Participants in this ongoing program are committed to adopting a culture of safety, system improvement, and continuous learning. We are very pleased to welcome Christiana Care to the Stand Up program.”

Stand Up for Patient Safety is a program that health care organizations join to enhance education and awareness of health care safety among management, staff, patients, and the communities they serve. As a member organization, Christiana Care will receive benefits to help support a number of initiatives, including:

- Educational and training opportunities focusing on patient safety as a top priority for all staff members
- Information for patients and their families about how to make their health care safer
- Tools and resources to engage staff and patients in patient safety best practices

Headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, Christiana Care oversees 50 clinical locations and 118 provider offices and primarily serves residents of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Christiana Care includes two hospital campuses, Wilmington Hospital in the city of Wilmington, Del., and Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
