NPSF Welcomes CHI St. Luke’s Health System

The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) is proud to welcome CHI St. Luke’s Health as the newest member of the NPSF Stand Up for Patient Safety Program.

“Stand Up for Patient Safety member organizations are leading the way in creating measurable improvements in the safety and care of patients across the country,” said Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, president of NPSF. “Participants in this ongoing program have made a commitment to adopting a culture of safety, system improvement, and continuous learning. We are very pleased to welcome CHI St. Luke’s Health to the Stand Up program.”

Stand Up for Patient Safety is a program that health care organizations join to enhance education and awareness of health care safety among executives, management, staff, patients, and the communities they serve. As a member organization, St. Luke’s will receive benefits to help support a number of initiatives, including:

Educational and training opportunities focusing on patient safety as a top priority for all staff members
Information for patients and their families about how to make their health care safer
Tools and resources to engage staff and patients in patient safety best practices
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the CHI St. Luke’s Health system includes medical centers in Houston, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, and Pasadena, Texas, and outpatient facilities in the Greater Houston area. In 2013, several of the St. Luke’s hospitals were recognized by U.S. News & World Report as being among the Best Regional Hospitals, and the system has consistently been cited as a leader in cardiology. In April 2014, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, home of the Texas Heart Institute, was named by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its “100 Great Hospitals in America.”
