Stand Up for Patient Safety

Tools and Resources

  • Comprehensive Member Resource Guide
    The comprehensive Member Resource Guide includes a step-by-step toolkit, DVDs, brochures, presentation templates, customizable surveys and other regularly updated materials and resources that support organizations to build and sustain a robust patient safety program. Built around five key components of patient safety, the Member Resource Guide is a fixed resource in every patient safety professional’s personal library.
  • Ready-To-Use Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) Toolkit
    Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) is an annual, NPSF-led education and awareness campaign for healthcare safety. Each year, healthcare organizations internationally take part in the event by prominently displaying the NPSF campaign logo and promotional materials within their organizations and deploying NPSF educational resources to hospital staff. NPSF is the founding sponsor of Patient Safety Awareness Week and has led the event since 2002. Stand Up members receive a complimentary toolkit complete with resources and information to help celebrate the week at their respective organization. Toolkits include themed materials, customizable content, educational resources and patient engagement tools designed to spread the message of patient safety.
  • AHRQ Survey on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) Data Comparisons and Benchmarking
    Patient safety culture is critical to the success of any patient safety program. NPSF encourages members to administer the AHRQ’s Survey on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) on an annual basis. NPSF provides support and direction during survey administration, and works one-on-one with organizations to submit survey data to the AHRQ’s Comparative Database for analysis and benchmarking.
  • Stand Up for Patient Safety Logo and Media Tools
    Members are encouraged to reproduce the Stand Up for Patient Safety logo on organizational brochures, press releases, websites and marketing material. In addition, members have access to media tools and communications templates designed for ease of use and spreading your commitment to patient safety within your community.
  • Membership Recognition Plaque
    Members receive a recognition plaque upon enrollment and for each year of membership in the program. Participating organizations are encouraged to display this plaque in a community area to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to patient safety through membership in the Stand Up program.

Continuing Education and Training

  • Complimentary Access to NPSF’s Professional Learning Series
    Members have complimentary access to continuing education and peer-to-peer collaboration in an online learning environment. The Professional Learning Series tackles 10 patient safety topics each year, with expert faculty providing best practices, cutting-edge perspectives, and unmatched resources. Continuing education credits are available for an unlimited number of physicians, nurses and pharmacists attending the live events.
  • 20% Registration Discount to NPSF Patient Safety Congress
    Members receive a 20% registration discount to attend the NPSF Annual Patient Safety Congress. Widely recognized as the preeminent patient safety forum, NPSF Congress combines a variety of educational sessions, in-depth Pre-Congress programs and exciting Plenary speakers with interactive simulation and networking environments to deliver a unique educational experience for attendees.     Members receive complimentary registration to attend a series of patient safety and risk management seminars. Meetings are held in partnership with Lexington Healthcare and provide a focused opportunity for learning and discussion between the executive and mid-level management groups.

    The members’ website provides an online community with access to additional patient safety resources, articles, fact sheets and brochures, downloadable recordings and more.   • Subscription to NPSF’s Focus on Patient Safety Quarterly Newsletter
    This quarterly publication includes articles surrounding NPSF and general patient safety initiatives throughout the country.
  • Subscription to bi-monthly Current Awareness Literature Alerts
    Conveniently delivered by email twice a month, this electronic publication provides a digest of current literature highlighting articles of interest to the patient safety community.
