The National Patient Safety Foundation and the NPSF Lucian Leape Institute produce a variety of publications, some on a scheduled basis and others periodically on specific topics. This page includes links to reports and publications produced by NPSF and by the NPSF Lucian Leape Institute.
NPSF also provides access, through membership in the Foundation's programs, to publications important in the patient safety field. This page also contains information about journals and other publications that are available through participation in NPSF programs.
Current Awareness Literature Alert (members-only access)
Provided to members of the American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety at NPSF (ASPPS) and the Stand Up for Patient Safety program as a member benefit, Current Awareness provides abstracts of recent articles of interest to the patient safety community, compiled by NPSF Information Resources. Published 22 times per year. View or download a sample issue.

NPSF Lucian Leape Institute reports

Recognized as an official journal of the National Patient Safety Foundation, this international, peer-reviewed publication provides research, opinions, debates, and reviews for academics, clinicians, and health care managers focused on the quality and safety of health care and the science of improvement.
Members of the American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety at NPSF (ASPPS) receive complimentary online access to the journal as a member benefit when they access the journal through the NPSF website.
Members of the NPSF Stand Up for Patient Safety program (our organizational membership program) receive a discount on subscriptions.
The Journal of Patient Safety is recognized as an official journal of the National Patient Safety Foundation. Published quarterly, the journal is dedicated to presenting research advances and field applications in every area of patient safety.
Other Affiliated Publications
Published six times per year, PSQH taps experts in the field for the latest news, science, research, and opinion covering a broad range of safety and quality topics. NPSF is a sponsoring organization of this publication. Members of the American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety and the Stand Up for Patient Safety program receive the print edition as a benefit of membership.
