Implementing an Effective Communication and Resolution Program

April 5, 2016

This webcast provides a new way of thinking about transparency and disclosure. Through an in-depth look at Communication and Resolution Programs (CRPs), the facilitators offer strategies organizations can adopt to improve communication both internally and externally following an adverse event. Participants have an opportunity to hear from multiple leaders in the field of medicine who have implemented successful CRPs. Most importantly, this presentation demonstrates that moving from a fear-based response to patient injury to a principled, transparent approach advances our long-term interests by building the culture of accountability absolutely necessary to continual improvement. Claims and costs drop along the way to the real goal: a safer, more patient-centered culture that reminds us all why we work in health care.

Kenneth Sands, MD

Evaluation of Perioperative Medication Errors and Adverse Drug Events

February 25, 2016

This webcast provides a foundation for understanding concepts around medication errors (MEs) and adverse drug events (ADEs), including challenges around data acquisition, use and implementation of solutions. The focus is on identifying, evaluating and classifying types of perioperative medication errors and adverse drug events as well as solutions that may have the potential to prevent them.
