The National Patient Safety Foundation considers education to be part of our central mission. We seek to create a core body of knowledge and to identify pathways to apply it. Part of this work involves helping health care professionals develop and enhance the culture of patient safety at their organizations.
The centerpiece of our educational offerings is the Patient Safety Curriculum, a 10-module, online course that provides fundamental background and essential knowledge about the science of patient safety; systems thinking and design; measurement and outcomes; risk management; policy and regulatory matters; and other relevant topics. The content includes lectures and presentations by a distinguished and multidisciplinary faculty.
Other online courses provide opportunities for more in-depth learning about specific topics, such as Reducing Diagnostic Errors.
Many of the NPSF online courses available through this website are eligible for continuing education credits. More detailed information about CEs and CMEs is available on the course description page for each course.
We invite you to explore the current offerings and check back frequently as we add to and update these online educational programs.
