2010 Call For Award Nominations
NPSF has issued a call for nominations for awards to be presented at the
Annual Patient Safety Congress, May 17-19, 2010, in Orlando, FL (Kissimmee, FL).
The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 12, 2010 at 5:00pm EST.
Socius Award

Socius is the Latin word for "partner." The National Patient Safety Foundation Socius Award is given in recognition of work that promotes positive and effective partnering between patients / families and providers in pursuit of improved patient safety. Such work will have at its core the recognition of the importance of patient and family centered care and the critical role that patients and families play in the development and implementation of patient safety solutions. Additionally, the work must recognize the positive contributions of providers in the creation of effective partnership.
Chairman's Medal

The National Patient Safety Foundation Chairman's Medal is awarded in recognition of emerging leadership in the patient safety field. The award recipient will have demonstrated an ability to inspire and lead the change necessary to successfully implement patient safety improvements while creating a culture of respect, openness, learning, and team dynamic. Such leadership will have resulted in measurable positive change and improvement.
Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award
(Download nomination form) The Management Award is granted to a member hospital of the National Patient Safety Foundation's Stand Up for Patient Safety(TM) program in recognition of the successful implementation of an outstanding patient safety initiative that was led by, or created by, mid-level management. The initiative will have demonstrated evidence of patient safety improvement, with involvement of staff at all levels of the organization. The recipient hospital shall be able to demonstrate measurable, positive changes in care delivered at their facility as a result of this initiative.
Pfizer Health Literacy in Advancing Patient Safety Award

The Pfizer Health Literacy in Advancing Patient Safety Award will recognize an individual, group, or organization that has made significant strides in improving the health literacy of their constituents or community through research, advocacy, or program implementation in order to improve patient safety and quality of care. The recipient will receive a one-time award in the amount of $15,000. NPSF gratefully acknowledges Pfizer's support of the Health Literacy Award.
