Members Contribute to National Discussion on Improving Diagnosis
Patient safety leader Dr. Mark Graber, founder of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM) and an ASPPS member, served on the Institute of Medicine panel that produced the new report Improving Diagnosis in Health Care. Visit the IOM website to download the report and view the release webcast video with remarks by Dr. Graber and others. Read Dr. Graber’s commentary on diagnostic error in the Huffington Post.

Lifetime member Paul Epner, executive vice president of SIDM and chairman of the newly formed Coalition to Improve Diagnosis, was interviewed about the new IOM report by multiple outlets. Read the Washington Post story.

Second-Victim Support
ASPPS member Susan Scott, PhD, RN, CPPS, manager of patient safety/risk management at University of Missouri Health System, authored an article about her study of a second-victim support program. Read her article in the current issue of Patient Safety & Quality Healthcare magazine.
