Frequently Asked Questions about ASPPS Membership

What are the different levels of membership in ASPPS?

There are 5 levels of membership in ASPPS. They are as follows:

  • Professional Member: Any individual who is actively involved in the patient safety field in a professional capacity or whose role has a direct impact on patient safety.
  • Patient Advocate Member: Any individual who is actively working in the patient safety field representing the patient and family perspective.
  • Student Member: Any individual who is currently pursuing a degree in health care, whether clinical or administrative, and is interested in patient safety.
  • Affiliate Member: Any individual who has a strong interest in learning about and supporting patient safety work, but is ineligible for Professional, Patient Advocate, or Student membership.
  • Lifetime Member (Professional, Advocate and Affiliate levels)
What is the cost of membership?

The annual cost of membership in ASPPS varies by membership level. Members receive a 10% discount on 2-year memberships.

  • Professional: $150 (1-year) | $270 (2-year)
  • Patient Advocate: $75 (1-year) | $135 (2-year)
  • Student: $75 (1-year) | $135 (2-year)
  • Affiliate: $75 (1-year) | $135 (2-year)
  • Lifetime: $1,500
How do I join ASPPS?

An individual can join ASPPS by completing a membership application and paying their annual membership dues. Online registration is available through the NPSF website, by going to the ASPPS homepage (under Membership Programs). The ASPPS homepage also has downloadable PDF membership applications, which can be faxed, mailed, or emailed to ASPPS, with the accompanying payment.

Do I have to pay with a credit card?

We do accept check payments for membership dues, as well as credit cards. Please mail your check, along with your membership application, to the NPSF offices.

If I do not live in the U.S., can I still join ASPPS?

Absolutely! Membership is open to all individuals worldwide.

Where can I find information about member benefits?

Member benefits information is located on the ASPPS homepage (under Membership Programs) on the NPSF website. Specific discount information is located on the members-only site.

How can I access the members-only website?

You must be an ASPPS member to access the site. To access the site, log in using your member username and password. Your member username is usually your first initial followed by your last name (all lowercase, for example: jsmith). If you do not have a username and password, please contact us at ASPPSinfo@npsf.org.
