Day of Understanding, May 7, 2003

The May 7th briefing and online event was part of a national Day of Understanding, to examine the scope and impact of low health literacy and share information about "Ask Me 3," a new patient education program designed to promote communication between health care providers and patients, in order to improve health outcomes.

An unprecedented national coalition of provider groups, patient advocates and health care organizations, working together to promote awareness and solutions around the issue of low health literacy and its effect on health outcomes, unveiled a new patient education program designed to promote clear communication between health care providers and patients.
